The need for an organization like AMERA has never been as great as it is today. There are many organizations representing Music Educators and all do a terrific job in their own right, but none elaborate on repair as deeply as necessary. The business climate today dictates we know and understand more of what is going on because of tight budgets and the limited amount of time we can spend on specific projects. AMERA understands this and makes the proper information available in a format you will understand.

A complete course on the maintenance and repair of band and orchestra instruments is not generally part of the curricula in higher education. If you were lucky, you attended a short lecture on repair by an adjunct professor for an hour or so in your undergraduate program. If you were really lucky, you got to attend one of the few and far between hands on repair classes that only a few colleges offer. Most of these courses are sold out before the brochures are mailed. So, consider yourself extremely fortunate if you even made it to the waiting list. AMERA is changing all of this. Now this type of education and training is available directly to you. Learning repair and maintenance on a vast number of musical instruments is not a two-hour project. It is a lengthy ongoing commitment.

Experts in these areas have pledged their time, talents, and resources to make AMERA a positive force in the field of instrument repair. Technology has played a vital role in the development of our organization. Until recently, we would not have been able to present such a vast amount of material in a diverse variety of regularly updated formats. AMERA will continue to grow and change with the times to reflect, as well as anticipate, the needs of all instrumental music educators.
